Frequently Asked Questions

  • I need to schedule an appointment for cleaning - how quickly can you be here?

In the event of an emergency situation we will do everything we can to provide same day service. In situations of widespread water damages due to excessive rains or due to broken pipes we will be utilizing a waiting list! JOEY'S will be working in order of when calls are received, therefore it is best to give us your name and phone numbers when you first* call in order for our receptionist to update you on when our crew(s) may arrive to assist.

    * If you call back hours later and didn't give us your information on the initial call, then it is very likely numerous customers will be in front of you, placing you further behind on the wait list. Do know you can have your name removed from wait list if anything changes.

  • What do you charge for carpet cleaning?

Our pricing is based on the square footage but there are several factors that can adjust the rate. Our base service includes that we pre-vacuum, move furniture (except for breakables and electronics), pretreat the overall area as well as the spots and stains and then clean, we then put the furniture back on plastic tabs or styrofoam blocks and groom the carpet. There are adjustments to the rate for empty rooms, cleaning the open areas as well as if there is an excessive amount of furniture to move in the area. Due to the variables, it is impossible to give an accurate price over the phone, but our trained technicians always give an exact price before work begins and we offer FREE in-home estimates where we can talk through your specific needs.

  • What areas does Joey’s service?

We service all Central Kentucky, some homes outside of the Fayette County area may incur a travel fee to help cover the extra fuel and time the crew is on the road, we have been hired for specialty work all over the state.

  • Do you offer emergency services?

Yes, we offer 24-hour emergency service. There is an additional fee for on call service based on the time of day the call is received and the type of work (emergency water removal vs emergency carpet cleaning)

  • Do you clean area rugs?

Yes, we have a top-of-the-line rug washing plant where we fully wash synthetic and natural fiber rugs. While we do offer surface cleaning of rugs in your home, we strongly suggest in-plant cleaning for the best results possible.

  • Do you repair/stretch carpets?

Yes, we offer re-stretching, patches, and seam repair. Due to the variables in repair needs we suggest a free estimate for all repair jobs.

  • Will you move furniture to clean?

Yes, we are happy to help move your furniture and clean under if desired. We do ask that homeowners move breakables, electronics, and plants prior to our arrival. If a piece cannot be moved safely then we will clean around it, taking precautions to not damage wood finishes.

  • How long does it take to dry after having carpet, rug or upholstery cleaned?

We offer several methods of cleaning for carpet and upholstery. When drying quick is needed, our low moisture method can dry as fast as 1-2 hours, but typical truck mounted steam cleaning will take 8-10 hours to dry. Most upholstery takes 3-6 hours to dry post cleaning, some treatments may take longer.

  • If I have a sensitivity to smells or fragrances are their products you can use that are odor free?

  • Best way to treat a spot/stain on my carpet?

This depends on the spot itself. You can call our office for free spot cleaning advice anytime but here are a couple of the most common:

Mud: Allow the mud to dry completely then vacuum the area thoroughly, use a brush or plastic tool to break up the dirt if needed. If any spot remains after this process, you can use a mild dish soap and water with a terry cloth towel to remove the rest. (If you have red clay, please call us for further advice)

Pet Urine: if fresh you should blot and flush with clean water (a home carpet cleaner or a wet vac can be a great tool for rinsing these spots), white distilled vinegar and water (mixed 1:4) is a safe solution for cleaning pet urine. If you have some yellow remaining after cleaning 3% peroxide can be an effective treatment. If your spots are on wool, silk or viscose please call for assistance.

Oil/Grease: Odorless mineral spirits or a store-bought product like de-solv-it or goo gone (avoid the orange version) and a terry cloth towel work well, apply the OMS to your towel and then clean the spots with your towel. Over application of a solvent can weaken the glue in the back of your carpet so be careful.

  • Is it possible to remove a Kool-Aid stain from my carpet?

Yes, in many cases if the spill area has not been already cleaned we can successfully remove the color from this type of stain. However in many cases the stain might only lighten and not be completely removed.

Note: There is risk of reducing the color of the carpet, if this occurs we must stop the dye removal process.

  • Can ink be removed from upholstery?

Often, yes, the type of ink as well as the type of fabric both play a big part. If you know the type of ink and even the brand, this can be helpful information in removing the ink from your upholstery.

  • How long does it typically take to have area rugs washed In-plant?

7-10 business days. We do offer rush services, be sure to ask a service coordinator if you have a specific in hand needed.

  • Can pet stains be removed from carpet?

While we have great success removing pet stains this depends on the type of carpet and can even depend on the type of pet and that pet’s diet. Over time pet urine can cause permanent discoloration that cannot be corrected with cleaning. If the spot is relatively recent and presents darker there is a good chance it can be removed. If spots are older, have been previously cleaned or appear lighter than the carpet they are more likely to have permanent staining.

MicroSeal FAQs

  • Is MicroSeal safe for my home?

Yes. MicroSeal is EPA-rated safe, non-toxic, and non-allergenic. In fact, MicroSeal has even earned the EPA’s coveted Design for the Environment label, which according to the EPA, “helps consumers identify products that perform well, that are cost-effective and are safer for the environment.” And if that is not enough MicroSeal is also California VOC compliant, which means MicroSeal adheres to the nation’s most stringent safety standards.

  • What protection does MicroSeal offer for my fabrics and fibers?

MicroSeal permanently prevents staining, strengthens fibers and fabrics to preserve their structural integrity and prevent wear, protects from ultraviolet rays to prevent sun fading, and even reduces flammability of fabrics and fibers.

  • How does MicroSeal Work?

Instead of coating the surface of a fabric or fiber, like all other stain protectants, MicroSeal penetrates to protect the fabric or fiber from within. In fact, MicroSeal was engineered to mimic the natural protection that wool possesses before it is sheered from the animal. And MicroSeal works in much the same way. It is difficult to imagine something like wine permanently staining an animal’s coat. This is because the fur is protected from within by oils. MicroSeal offers these same properties to virtually all fabrics and fibers. And because MicroSeal does not coat the surface of the fabric or fiber, it cannot be washed away by regular cleanings.

  • Will MicroSeal change the way my fabric or fiber smells, feels, or looks?

No. After MicroSeal dries and cures there is no odor, and even vibrantly colored silks look and feel exactly the way they did before MicroSeal application

  • Can MicroSeal be applied to heirloom fabrics and fibers?

Yes. MicroSeal can be applied to all your prized heirloom fabrics and fibers. This is because MicroSeal does not “seal in” stains or dirt. Application of MicroSeal will only extend the lifespan, benefit cleaning, and prevent future staining of all your heirloom fabrics and fibers.

  • Are the performance and safety of MicroSeal verified by independent laboratory testing?

Yes. The following laboratories have tested MicroSeal for performance and safety: Boeing Aerospace in Seattle, Chatfield Applied Research Laboratories in London, Commercial Testing Co. in Georgia, Certified Testing Laboratories in Georgia, Centre D’ Aeronautique De Toulouse in France, Forensic Testing Laboratories in Georgia, U.S. Testing Co. in California and TRI/Environmental Inc. in Texas.
